Office and Administrative Functions

Our business activities – and where practicable, those of our suppliers – are undertaken in a socially and environmentally responsible manner. Wherever possible, we look to conserve energy to avoid wasting resources unnecessarily. From the heating and air conditioning in our offices to the products we use for cleaning and hygiene, we look for the most environmentally friendly processes and products.

Vehicles contribute to global greenhouse emissions and air pollution. To address this issue, we are focused on fleet optimisation, streamlining operations, using fuel-efficient vehicles, and expanding car-sharing solutions. For example, to help reduce the number of vehicles on the road, we encourage customers to share a ride when they are attending the same event.

Our Vehicles

Hughes has a number of hybrids in our fleet. Wherever possible, we use the latest models of cars, people movers, luxury minibuses and coaches. This is because the newest models are equipped with the most recent technology. State-of-the-art equipment enables our drivers to plan the fastest or shortest route and drive in a way that promotes fuel efficiency and reduces emissions.

For the same reason, all of our vehicles are fully serviced and maintained to keep them in optimum condition. We use the most energy-efficient fuel for our vehicles so we can provide the best service and minimise potentially damaging emissions. Our drivers always endeavour to use the most direct route to reach their destination in the interest of optimising fuel consumption.

To minimise wasted water, we employ the most efficient cleaning methods for our vehicles using products that require little or no water, or recycled water wherever possible.

Reducing Waste to Landfill

We work hard to generate less waste by recycling, repairing and reusing wherever possible. We promote the recycling or repurposing of tires, and repair or recycle windshields. We also recycle vehicle parts and used motor oils.

Our office staff recycles paper, card, glass, plastic, batteries, electronics and printer cartridges in a conscientious manner whenever possible to reduce waste to landfill and minimise our impact on the environment. Recycling bins are provided at all of our locations to encourage our staff to strive to achieve zero waste.

At Hughes, we cultivate an attitude of continuous improvement, and we stay abreast of the latest information so we can implement the most environmentally friendly practices as they emerge.

Hughes is accountable and transparent in the management of our social and environmental impact. We periodically review and audit our CSR policy and processes, and make the necessary changes when needed so we do our bit to make the world a better place for future generations.
