Parramatta is considered the economic capital of Western Sydney and it boasts a diverse range of attractions. Travelling between there and the airport is relatively straightforward. But for those who have never done so before, we have compiled a list of important information to consider for your airport transfer with Hughes.
Sydney is the largest city in Australia. This means that travel times do vary quite a lot, depending on the time of day. The average amount of time taken to travel between Parramatta and the airport is 50-55 minutes. However, this time can vary depending on peak and off-peak travel hours.

The international terminal – or T1 – has different drop off and collection facilities to the domestic. In T1, express pick up is marked with yellow signage and you can find it in the P9 car park. Here, you can wait for fifteen minutes, free of charge. Drop offs are possible on the departures level of T1, but you cannot wait in this area for more than a minute or two. In the drop off zone, there is space available for disabled passengers.
The domestic terminals have drop off sections in the departures level. However again, you cannot wait here for more than a minute or so. Your pick up options are a little more flexible and include kerbside pick up zones at both terminals.
Parramatta is a central commercial hub for Sydney’s western suburbs. Located 23km west of Sydney, it lies on the banks of the Parramatta River. It boasts a thriving commercial centre, as well as a Westfield shopping centre. At Hughes, we offer door-to-door service. This means that we will pick you up from anywhere in Parramatta—simply let us know where you will be when you make your booking.
There is an excellent network of transport options servicing the Sydney airport. As Australia’s largest, it relies on a variety of different transport options to keep passengers moving through. This means that there is everything from taxis and airport shuttles, to trains and buses. Of course, the most convenient and comfortable option is Hughes.
It is possible for passengers to catch a train to and from the Sydney airport. However, this line runs directly into the city. As a result, you would have to transfer at Central Station to reach Parramatta. This is not very convenient, especially if you have heavy luggage. To increase the challenge, you would then need a bus or taxi to reach your final destination from the station. With Hughes, you needn’t worry about any of that. Simply book your transfer and we will take you to your doorstep in comfort.
There is an extensive taxi rank at Sydney airport, which means that taxis are always an easy option. However, although they travel door-to-door as well, Hughes is still a more cost effective option. Our airport transfer services offer better comfort and service. With a group of 2-3, a Hughes airport transfer will also be the cheaper option. A taxi fare may save you up to 20%, but the price still does not necessarily reflect the service you receive. Plus, with Hughes, you get to skip the taxi rank and head straight to your destination.
There are many bus and shuttle services operating between Sydney airport and Parramatta. While these are undoubtedly among the cheapest options, Hughes can still save you money. If you are travelling in a group of 5-6, a luxury people mover from Hughes will offer better comfort and pricing. On top of this, your journey will be quicker without frequent stops for other passengers. We have a range of shuttle buses, from 12-person people movers to 50-person luxury coaches. Regardless of the size of your group, Hughes can help.
