Port Douglas is a coastal town and popular holiday destination in Queensland, approximately 60 kilometres north of Cairns. The population of Port Douglas is only around 3500 people, however during tourist season, population numbers have been known to double. Cairns Airport is about 66.2 kilometres from Port Douglas and a typical journey by car should take around 1 hour.

Cairns Airport facilitates both public buses and a shuttle service that will take you directly to Port Douglas, however during peak season, these options can become very crowded. Journey Details

Your chosen method of transport will determine your average journey time between Port Douglas and Cairns Airport. The public bus will take around 2 hours and 30 minutes between the two places and the direct shuttle service will take around 1 hour and 5 minutes. If arriving by car the average journey time is around 1 hour and 5 minutes, however during peak conditions, the trip could extend up to around 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Cairns Airport

Cairns Airport is Australia’s 7th busiest airport and sees around 5 million passengers through its terminals annually. It has a straightforward layout which includes two passenger terminals and a single runway. T1 is the dedicated international terminal and T2 is for all domestic flights. Cairns Airport has direct flights going to over 10 international destinations and over 35 domestic locations, including all major Australian cities and tourist destinations.

Terminals T1 and T2 are located 200 meters from each other and are both well-appointed with modern transit facilities and a sufficient selection of retail stores, bars, and dining options. There are three car parks to choose from across both terminals with multiple long and short-stay options including a 10-minute free parking limit. Both terminals have express pick-up bays located directly in front of the terminal entrances and are well signed for ease of access. There is free Wi-Fi inside the terminals and enough entertainment features to keep guests thoroughly entertained while awaiting their upcoming flight.
