Sydney Airport is situated in Mascot, about 8km from the city centre, which means that it can be tricky to get to non-central destinations like Dee Why. Luckily, there are still plenty of options, though. You could opt for public transport, but it takes a long time and you’ll need to transfer between services, which means no shortage of walking. With heavy luggage, that’s just not an option. Taxis are more direct, but when you’ve got to drive across town the price adds up. Throw some congestion, or an unexpected delay into the mix, and you’ve got a hefty bill at the end of it. At Hughes, we steer clear of that approach, instead offering consistent pricing and impeccable service. Our Sydney Airport to Dee Why services are operated by experienced chauffeurs in luxury vehicles, and the trip is direct and private. That means no delay, no other passengers, and complete comfort.

If you haven’t travelled through Sydney much before, it’s important that you know what it involves. Sydney has a population of close to five million, which means things can get busy! Here’s what you need to know to plan your trip.
Dee Why is a suburb on the northern beaches of Sydney. From Sydney Airport to Dee Why is a distance of about 31km, which generally takes an hour or so to cover. The trip also takes you through some of the busier corners of the Sydney area, which means that congestion can increase your travel times a fair bit during peak hour. We generally expect trips of about 65-75 minutes during peak hour for that reason. When things are quiet, you can enjoy far quicker trips of as little as 40 minutes from Sydney Airport to Dee Why and vice versa.
Getting from your Sydney Airport terminal to your Dee Why transfer will involve a walk through some of the country’s best duty free shopping, as well as plenty of dining opportunities. On top of that, you’ll have excellent transit facilities available to you, and free Wi-Fi across all three terminals of the airport. We will pre-arrange your collection point with you, and our drivers will be ready and waiting when you touch down, so you needn’t worry about getting lost or delayed. When we drop you off at the airport after your trip from Dee Why, we will also ensure that you are taken to the closest possible departures point to minimize the amount of walking you need to do. The airport terminals are very well serviced by numerous drop off, pick up, waiting, and parking areas, so you transition from transfer to airport should be smooth.
Dee Why is the epicentre of the iconic Northern Beaches of Sydney, and it was named by James Meehan in 1814, after a book he wrote entitled “Wednesday, 27th Sept, 1815 Dy Beach – Marked a Honey Suckle Tree near the Beach.” The suburb now boasts the classic coastal Sydney atmosphere, with plenty of natural and man made attractions alike. There’s a family friendly beach, complete with a surf pool, and Manly beach near by. There are over 200 specialist shops in the area, and plenty of greenspace for you and the family to enjoy. Because there’s so much to see, we suggest booking with Hughes so you can enjoy the benefits of private transport not just from Sydney Airport to Dee Why, but also in and around Dee Why.
