Well, I took another look and found the confusion...
The documentation for msqlQuery() is in the msql PDF documentation and
in there, it says (page 16):
As with previous releases of mSQL, a returned value of -1 indicates an error and
msqlErrMsg will be updated to contain a valid error message.
There is no documentation about msqlQuery() in the ember PDF
documentation. However, the ember documentation does say that ERRMSG will
contain the error message for some functions.
Perhaps a note in the msql documentation about ember's error variable
would be helpful for people like me since msqlQuery() is documented there. Just
my 2 cents...
