RE: path info

Yes, I have root access. I would like to have all of the msql functions
aliased.... is the only way to create an alias file for each one? I was
hoping that there would be a path option simular to what you might see in
an autoexec.bat file. I am just getting my mind around Linux, but like it
so far - just have to learn all the ins and outs.

Regarding the cobalt servers: so far I have been very pleased. I am
running sites that extensively use PHP3 and MYSQL without any problems.
Postgres is also supposed to work fine on them, but I haven't set that up
on any of my machines yet. Overall, setup and maintenance is very easy. I
have several older sites that still use PHP2.x with mSQL back ends... which
lead to the question below. I am experimenting with mSQL on one of my
Cobalt machines to see how it works. So far, it looks very promising...
just my lack of Linux expertise that is slowing me down.

A nice thing about the Cobalts is that they are reletively inexpensive -
less than $2000 to purchase on the RAQ2's. Or simply get a dedicated RAQ2
server w/ a host provider for as low as $250-$300 per month. They are
supposed to run up to 200 domains each.

Tobe -

I'm assuming you have root access to the server. Using Apache's mod_alias
module, you should be able to create an alias by typing the following:

Alias msqldump usr/local/Hughes/bin/msqldump

Hope this works.

I actually have a question for you. I'm looking for a new server/hosting
setup for several commercial websites that I manage. I couldn't help
notice
that you're using a Cobalt server w/ Linux and Apache and was wondering if
you wouldn't mind giving me your insights as to how it's working for you
along with what kind of site(s) your running on it.

Regards,
Brian
