Hi,
apologies if this is covered elsewhere ... please let me know if there's
anything freely available I should read to help me with what I'm about to
ask.
My web hosts use mSQL and I'm trying to set it up on my home linux install
(Mandrake 6) to interface with PHP for a website I'm developing. I have
PHP and Apache set up correctly and have done some work with MySQL without
problems, but can't get mSQL working properly.
I've followed the installation instructions and installed from source. I
haven't set the daemon to start at start up, but run it manually when I
want the server running. When I make a call from PHP such as:
<?
$a = msql_connect("britlinks.co.uk");
?>
and call the page with lynx, the software simply says "HTTP request sent;
waiting for response" and doesn't change until I abort it.
Do I need to set up ports/sockets or anything of that sort (I'm still
fairly new to linux as well as mSQL)? Any other possible problems?
cheers. James.
