I think its an OS issue, because the same happended to me, if there are to
much open files from one process (e.g. too many open logfiles simultanesly,
in cause of much virt. Webservers of the Apache). Linux limits it to max. of
256 open FD per process. I don't know about BSD, but I think there is
something similar !
