From: frank <frank@netcom.com> Message-Id: <199711220455.UAA22874@netcom10.netcom.com> Subject: how to install w3-msql myself? Date: Fri, 21 Nov 1997 20:55:55 -0800 (PST)Hi, my server has the mSQL server installed and it works fine. However,
they don't have w3-msql compiled. I am trying to build a binary for
myself with no success. The make command won't recognize -lsocket. The
server I am with is Linux-2.0.30. Is the root the only one can compile
w3-msql? How can I do it myself?
Your help is greatly appreciated!!!!
Thanks a million.
Frank

When I issue the command to start msql using msql-1.0.16 on my Linux
2.0.30 system the following occurs ......
DogHouse:~# /usr/local/Minerva/bin/msqld &
[1] 3528
DogHouse:~#
mSQL Server 1.0.16 starting ...
Can't start server : UNIX Bind : Permission denied
now I suspect that this has something to to with the fact that /dev/msql
does not exist on my machine.
What have I done wrong ? I was not aware of any errors during installation
therefore I must have omitted to do something ...... :-(
