The latest FAQ (1.31 released yesterday) contains patches for beta
releases 1 through 6. It doesn't turn off the counter but it does
increase the datum to some time in 2001 which should be enough time for
you.

The new FAQ hasn't been moved from the Incoming directory yet so try
one of the mirror sites:
