Message-Id: <9704141934.AA06950@mocha.bunyip.com> From: Jerry Heyman <heyman@acad.stedwards.edu> Subject: [mSQL] Accessing databases? Date: Mon, 14 Apr 1997 14:30:15 CDTI have just finished compiling up msql-2.0-B6 (on AIX 4.1) and have had better
success with it than other versions (of the beta). Unfortunately, I can't
figure out how to add tables to the database once I've created it.
As the Admin_user (msql in my case), I can create databases without any
problems. msqladmin create dbname returns back a message that says that
Database "dbname" was successfully created.
Unfortunately, when I try to use the 'msql' command to create tables, I
get the following:
> server# msql jerry
>
> ERROR : Can't connect to local MSQL server
I've set the Admin_user and the mSQL_user both to msql in the msql.conf file.
I don't know if thats a problem or not, but when I had the Admin_user set to
root, I couldn't even create a database.
The results from 'msqladmin version' is:
> server# msqladmin version
>
> Version Details :-
>
> msqladmin version 2.0 Beta 6
> mSQL server version 2.0 Beta 6
> mSQL protocol version 22
> mSQL connection Localhost via UNIX socket
> Target platform AIX-4.1-rs6000
>
> Configuration Details :-
>
> Default config file /usr/local/Hughes/msql.conf
> TCP socket 1114
> UNIX socket /usr/local/Hughes/msql2.sock
> mSQL user msql
> Admin user msql
> Install directory /usr/local/Hughes
> PID file location /usr/local/Hughes/msql2d.pid
And the msql2d is running...
This is a rather frustrating situation as my students would like to be using
mSQL to finish off their class projects...
