Message-Id: <199701310518.AAA01966@walrus1.walrus.com> From: "ABE" <abe@walrus.com> Subject: [mSQL] problem running W3-msql Date: Thu, 30 Jan 1997 22:46:29 -0500Hi,
I have just installed msql2.0 beta3. Basically all went well until I tried
the sample bookmark database using w3-sql.
My first (small) problem was to have w3-msql locate the script properly as
my top web directory includes my user directory (typical service provider
case I suppose). I had to modify the paths in Welcome.html and other html
files to reference the proper cgi-bin and /bookmark directories (i.e.
/~user/cgi-bin/). Secondly, my service provider's cgi scripts only work if
they end with .cgi, so I had to rename the w3-msql and w3-auth files in
cgi-bin to include the .cgi extension.
The problem I now have is that I get an error message when w3-msql runs the
script in bookmark.html. Starting from Welcome.html, the bookmark.html file
opens with the proper title, background etc. but displays only the error
message:
"cannot connect to local msql server". I did not get any error messages
when starting the server using msql2d & (although it did indicate at the
end: "no acl file, using global read/write".
Anybody any suggestions on what I could try ( the provider runs Sun0s
5.5.1/Solaris sparc and apache).
TIA Bas
