From: Brian Candler <B.Candler@pobox.com> Message-Id: <199701251136.LAA00448@gazebo.candler.co.uk> Subject: [mSQL] mSQL 2.0 features and ANSI Date: Sat, 25 Jan 1997 11:36:37 +0000 (GMT)Has anybody made a list of mSQL extensions which are incompatible with ANSI
SQL? The mSQL FAQ says that:
"Although it only supports a subset of SQL, everything
it supports is in accordance with the ANSI SQL specification."
However I don't think that 2.0 is a proper subset of ANSI SQL any more; for
example there are the RLIKE and CLIKE keywords.
I don't know ANSI SQL, but what concerns me is if I develop an application
using mSQL 2.0 features such as _seq and _timestamp, will this application
work if I port it to another database backend? Or to put it another way,
which mSQL features should I _avoid_ to ensure ANSI SQL compatibility?
Thanks,
Brian Candler.
