networking, I use the hosts file with no problems. I can do nslookups on the
hosts on my internal network, as well as proper dns on the dialup network.
I would look at your configurations, since it works as expected with the hosts
file (and what I would expect from a unix os, i.e. look at /etc/hosts first).
