Hello just read your posting and am not currently working at Web Page
Development, but I am working for Tad Resources International doing
Access DBMS development work and they now wish to market me as
an internet specialist, so I am very interested to know more about pricing
as I intend to go independant A.S.A.P. they currently pay me $42/HR.
but I had obtained information that indicated that they were billing me at
$65/HR. My last significent project took three months at about 35 HRS.
per week average I also know that there were other hands in this chain
making a percentage on that particular project. I suspect that they will
not wish to give me a raise, so as soon as I can afford to I will have to
move on.

Folks,
We're trying to get a better handle on our costs. We just spent 3 months
on a fixed price contract - worked out to about $4/hr. - The site is about
4000 lines of PHP & HTML mixed, plus all the msql stuff, plus the local
dbms interfacing - we did that for free :-(

The Wall Street Journal just quoted Advertising Age, that a "small" site in
NY cost $30,000 and a large site cost $300,000 (SF was $95,000 and
$1,000,000. I ain't seen that kinda cash yet.

So, here's a survey: What & how are you getting paid, and what should you
get paid? I will summarize the results and reply directly to all those who
contribute (see, if you want to know, you gotta contribute!)

I'm too lazy to build a real pretty form with all the possibilities, so use
this as a guide, and tell us what you do. If you're a client, just provide
the data from your point of view. If you're an hourly worker, just provide
as much as you can.

I'd like data for pure HTML and other non-php, non-msql sites as well, for
comparison.

Paid by: (Hour, Page, Lines, Site, ???)
Fixed price or rate based?

How much?

What is the total cost for some of the web sites you've completed using
HTML, PHP and/or mSQL?

How long did they take? How big are they?

What about the ongoing support requirements?

All replies will be held in confidence, unless you insist I tell everyone.

Thanks in advance!
